University of Virginia Will Not Cancel Classes on Election Day

The University of Virginia will not cancel classes on Election Day, Nov. 3, despite calls from some students and faculty to do so, The Cavalier Daily reported.

“Given the adjustments we have made to the fall academic calendar due to the pandemic, we will not be canceling classes on Election Day,” said Brian Coy, a university spokesperson.

Multiple UVA groups have created a pledge that asks faculty to not hold exams that day. Approximately 70 professors have signed.

Albemarle County residents can vote early at the County Office Building and Charlottesville City residents can vote early at the City Hall Annex, The Cavalier Daily reported.
